Before and After

When we moved into our new house, every room was dark, dreary, and depressing. We quickly painted every room a bright and cheery color except the spare bedroom and the entry way. They were low priorities at the time considering there was and still is sooo much to do. We recently painted the spare bedroom and now we are working on the entry. Here are a few "before" and "after" photos of my spare bedroom. This is the first room, in 4 houses, that we ever painted the walls white and I love it!!  It is also the first ceiling that we ever painted a color. Drop me a line and let me know what you think.

The Dog Days of Summer

Mercantile Mall

I went to the booth today and did a little freshening up and added a few new things.  Brenda, as most of you know shares the space with me. You can find her blog, Embellish, by clicking here. She does a beautiful job of keeping the shop looking great. Thanks Bren!!

For the first time, I added jewelry to the shop. I made cabochon rings, necklaces, and earrings.

We'll see how it goes. If anything, I had fun making them.

Back To School Cleaning

I couldn't wait for the kids to get back in school so I could clean my house.... well. The first thing I did was shampoo the carpets and wash my slipcovers. I bought this Arhaus sofa and 2 chairs about 8 years ago. They were the best purchase that I have ever made.  
The covers easily slip off.... which is obviously where the name "slipcover" came from. The base looks brand new when the covers are removed.  Arhaus Furniture is definitely worth the money. I have two kids, two dogs, and a husband and they still look great.

                                                Now on to the closets!

Darling Little Pincushions!

My husband is out of town tonight so I had time to sit down and make a few pincushions. These are so much fun to make and really don't take much time at all.

 

  

1st. Find a cute little planter, teacup, etc.

2nd.  Stuff with paper and cute a piece of foam to fit snuggly into opening

3rd. Find coordinating fabric and stitch a loose stitch around bottom. Pull tight around foam.

4th. Hot glue into the planter, smoothing fabric as you go.

5th. The best part.....embellish!

Here is the website I used to turn my 2 column template into a 3 column template. I searched and searched and this was the easiest to follow. I had to adjust the margins when I was finished because the columns were squished together. This website helps with that too. Good Luck!

A few "Before" and "Afters"

Here are a few photos of the projects that I completed lately.  Each project took less than 30 mins and that included walking away and letting the spray paint dry between coats. It is amazing what one can of spray paint and a little bit of fabric can do. After painting the chair and table I took them to my booth and they sold in less than an hour so I was feeling pretty good about that!! I decided to keep the ottoman because I loved it so much.

Ring Display How To

I needed a little organizer to display the rings that I have been making to sell at The Mercantile Mall. So I turned this little drawer into one. It only took about 15 mins. to complete.....easy peasy!

Step 1. Cut a piece of foam to fit the container you wish to use.
Step 2. Use a razor blade to cut slits in the foam. Make sure to cut deep enough so that your whole ring fits in the hole.

Step 3. Take a thin piece of fabric and tuck it into the slits first then the edges. You have to play with it a bit to get it smoothed out.

Step 4. Pull the edges back and add a little strip of glue.
