Fabric Samples

A favorite fabric store of mine is going out of business. I bought a lot of remnants, ribbon, sample books, and fabric ($3) to make a padded headboard.
I bought about 15 fabric sample books (.50 each) with the idea that the kids could cut them up and do whatever they would like. Rowan right a way went to work on her doll house, adding curtains, rugs, and blankets. ( I still need to get photos of her doll house)
Zoe used some to fill in a collage picture frame, and I used them to make my little pin cushions.
The possibilities are endless. If you have any good ideas let me know.

Piggy Pincushion

I've been wanting to make one of these little pincushions for a long time. I finally sat down and did it the other night. It was so easy to do and didn't take much time at all. First, I cut a circle from a remnant and made a loose stitch around the bottom. Then stuffed it with foam before I pulled the thread tight. I stuffed paper in the bottom of the planter then glued my fabic ball on top with E6000 glue. I waited a few minutes for it to dry then just added embellishments. Pretty simple.

This glue sticks to just about anything and is really durable.

I rearranged my shelf after Zoe, my oldest, painted the cute little salt and pepper shakers for me. She did such a good job.

I got this darling condiment set at the Pottery Barn Outlet.

This was a quick Friday Night project that literally took about 15mins. It was one of those projects where I wish I would have done it a long time ago. I love how it turned out.
Have a great weekend!!!

Mercantile Mall

I snapped a few shots today when I went down to the Mercantile Mall to add a few things to my booth. I think the shop looks better than it has in years. The vendors have been finding great stuff and are displaying it very well. It just makes me want to buy something every time that I visit.

My Cottage Garden

I haven't been blogging lately. Finding time since the kids have been out of school has proven to be more challenging that I thought it would be. Silly me. I always think, "Once I get ___ done, I'll have more time." But after you get through one thing, there is always something else that follows right behind.
One thing I have been spending a lot of time doing is gardening. As you can see from my first photo, I have two large dogs named Piper and Rue, that love to chase each other through my garden. Cleaning up after them is a job in itself. When the Bernese zooms through the garden, her large paws dig up everything in their path. The English Setter is an avid hunter. Anything that flies or burroughs under groung is fair game. She will stop at nothing to get to them, even if it means digging a hole to China thru my impatien bed.
